2024 Maverick Lariat Hybrid... From day 1 when I took delivery of it new a little over a year ago, There has been a faint muted clunking or rattle coming from the front passenger side of my truck.

It is only really heard when going at relatively slow speeds, mainly speeds below 25 mph, and when driving over roads that are a little rough or bumpy... like for example as you cross a intersection where the pavement isn't smooth or there is slightly raised pavement from frost heaves, or in parking decks etc... You won't really hear anything going over speed bumps or going over minor potholes, and if the roads are very smooth you won't hear it at all, and like I said... if your up to speed like 35+ mph you almost never hear it ( could just be that wind and tire and engine noise masks the sound? )

Truck has a little over 16K on it.

This is my second maverick, the first one was a 23 XLT hybrid and it did not make this noise.

I took the truck to the dealer the other day, they kept it 2 days and told me they could not replicate the noise. But I went up there yesterday afternoon and took the service advisor for a short drive and was able to find some patches of pavement rough enough ( like I said it has to be rough pavement but not too rough ) that made the noises and the service advisor absolutely heard them and agreed that if it was his truck he would want it fixed.

Trying to describe the noise I would say if anyone is familiar with the sound a hitch makes when you tug on it up and down, how there is a little bit of play between the hitch and the receiver... It is a similar noise but more muted, not as loud and not as metallic sounding. And its for sure coming only from the passenger side of the truck and sound comes from the front.

Just curious if anyone else had the same thing and had it fixed and what it was... so I can give the dealership some places to look.

If I was to make guess it might be a internal problem with the strut....

My 2023 Maverick makes the same noise. The noise magnifies when I drive in a parking deck. To me it sounds like one of my older cars when the ball joints or tie rod ends became worn out. When I had it checked out all I heard was “everything looks good.”

I have either the same or very similar problem. At certain lower speeds (approx. 20 to 30), when the right side of the vehicle goes over a bump there’s a noise/vibration on the passenger side. Almost like the door isn’t solid in the frame. (Of course, it’s always hard to pinpoint the exact source.) It doesn’t happen when both front wheels go over bumps, though.

I took it to the dealership and went out with a tech for a drive and he acknowledged the noise. They replaced the struts on the right, but the service manager also mentioned that it was kind of a Hail Mary. He was right, and the Hail Mary didn’t work. I still have the noise/vibration.

I have no idea. Is that a thing with Mavericks?

Thanks. I’ll have to bring that up with the dealer. Until recently we haven’t seen very many Mavericks in my area, so perhaps the service departments are still getting up to speed on some of the issues others have already been dealing with.

That’s what it was, a similar sound you get when there is something off with the suspension, might be a detached part. At least it’s heard by the service advisor which means they will pay more attention to it. I would recommend telling them to examine the strut, sway bar, or any suspension parts present on the front side of the car but on the passenger’s side. At other times, it may even be a simple problem such as worn out bushing that produces that faint sound like a rattle. With any luck, they will find something soon.

So the service advisor took the service dept manager for a ride in my truck so he could hear that noise and apparently they decided to replace the front passenger side strut. Part won't be to the dealership till Tuesday so I left the truck with them till its fixed.

I see someone else above had the same issue and a strut replacement didn't cure the noise... that's disappointing. If you had asked me what I thought the noise was I would have swore it was either the strut being slightly loose from the top mounting point or a internal issue with the strut. So when they said they were replacing the strut I was sure that would fix the noise.

It might still be the fix... I will have to wait a few days to find out. It is possible the strut they replaced on Davids truck above... The replacement strut also was defective.

All I know is I had a 2023 XLY hybrid and drove it for several months waiting for my lariat to be built and show up at the dealer. Probably put 7-8 thousand miles on that XLT and it never made that sound. So that tells me something is wrong with my lariat.

It isn't the end of the world if they can't find the source of the noise... It isn't super annoying like a dashboard rattle and doesn't have any effect on how the truck drives or handles. But I would be upset if once the truck is out of warranty something fails that caused that noise and it could have been taken care of through warranty while it was still covered.

Just a update, Dealer did put in a new front right side Strut and the noise is gone.

Of course like usual, no one can seem to have pride in their work these days and they either didn't do a alignment afterwards ( the service advisor says they did... ) or if they did, the tech didn't bother to center the steering wheel before doing it. The steering wheel is now turned a little to the right when going straight down the road. Called and fussed about that on my way home from the dealer. Taking the truck back Saturday morning to get that fixed.

I think my front side strut is making a noise. 2023 XL, about 40k miles. Anyone else having issues. Anyway to verify if that is exactly the problem? Some people are saying similar noise is from a Trans mount.
