I have to ask the people that are passing on these MY25 orders:

What happens to the order deposit in this case? Does the dealer just keep the deposit?

My dealer did not take a deposit. I asked about what happens if I don't want it when it comes in, and they told me that they would just sell it. I get it for MSRP, if I don't take it, I guess they'll slap the dealer mark-up on it and sell it to someone else

you loose the deposit if you put one down
resale market is almost dead so many orders are abandoned
if not brand loyal, RAM has some insane rebates, discounts for everyone ( ex 20k bellow msrp)..so getting a RAM 1500 for mid 30's is common. If you need a truck , any new truck, Ford doesnt have the best pricing model ATM

Thankfully our dealership stopped taking deposits a couple of years ago. Back when inventory was tight, they abolished it since there was no guarantee you would get your vehicle in the first place and so that way the dealer wasn't responsible for refunding tons of orders that didn't get delivered.

I know somebody's gonna enjoy seeing that on the lot. I'm guessing for affordability reasons that you're passing on it? I'll only take mine if the numbers are right. If not, I'll just keep what I have. Simple as that.

I would laugh if a dealer asked me to put a deposit on a Maverick order in 2025. Ain't gonna happen. Ford has been quietly discounting Mavericks by $750 for a year now (I keep throwing away the discount coupons they keep mailing me). More and more you see Mavericks sitting unsold on dealer lots. Not in huge quantities or for a long time, but it's not hard to find a Maverick on a lot these days (I guess it varies by region and dealer). By year's end I think we might see $1,000 to $1,500 on the hoods of Lariats and loaded XLTs. And lots with plenty of new and used selection.

Interesting factoid. The Mavs used market has doubled. A year ago you saw 800 or so used Mavs on cars.com. This year I see 1,600. So used is now competing with new. And production of 150,000 Mavericks per year is slowly but surely catching up with demand.

No deposit. I’ve purchased two mavericks from this dealership.

Also, is the 2024 stop-sale still in effect? if so, this will be a unit they can sell.

My guy, David, didn’t fret over me passing on the purchase. I don’t know if they have a wait list or not, but Eruption Green is stunning in the sunlight.
