Elevate Outdoor Aluminum Universal Over-Cab Truck Rack installed

I bought this rack on sale. With shipping and tax it was somewhere to the tune of $475 USD. I had to cut it down and do some mods for it to work right. If anyone is interested I’ll post a picture tutorial.

The tricky part is the C clamps which do not fit the Maverick as they stand. Also the bed does not appear to be in plane with the top of the bed by about 1/4” and the rack is aiming up slightly. When I have time to finalize and verify all my measurements I’ll post a tutorial.

Overall for the money this was a good buy. If you have a chop saw with a carbide tipped blade it will make short work of the aluminum.

Great idea and solves the short bed problem for carrying lumber . Can the top rack go further to the rear or is it a set position .

The top rails can change position. So yes I guess it can go the rear. I shortened the rear extrusion slightly because I wanted the join of the two extrusions to be behind the front tower as the instruction caution you to do. For obvious reasons. The whole system is adjustable within reason. Also very east to reconfigure, for example: only the two towers and no rails. You have to modify the c clamps to make them fit better which is no big deal just some time.

Saw the same rack on Amazon. How are you liking the rack so far Gankiskhan?

I would definitely like a followup and tutorial when you get around to it. My build date is week Oct 17 and I want to use it to something like this setup to haul a 14ft small boat that is called a portebote (it actually a foldable boat but I think I'd like to try and carry it partially assembled when I go to launch it at the boat ramp). I think this rack would do the trick since it allows me to use the top of truck roof so there's less hanging out back and it also protects the roof. Thanks for showing your truck it really looks nice with the rack. What clamps did you use to replace the ones it came with? Or can you post pictures of the clamps too. Also, how much did you cut down on the rack (ie, dimensions and tutorial would be great!)

I have added button lights and motorcycle lights to the top rails since and am wiring them up in the next few weeks. Front and side amber lights and rear red brake and turn signals. I should be visible form pretty far across a parking lot.
