I'm loving my Pro Retractable tonneau, a great cover and great value at $891 shipped!

The one shortcoming however was how the canister cover mounts on top of the front of the T-rail tracks. This reduced the max distance between the Truxedo racks, making for a less than ideal cargo carrying surface, and in my view odd looking proportions.

Getting the front rack closer to the cabin was fortunately pretty straightforward - simply drill the cover to accommodate the rack's mounting points.

This consisted of enlarging the existing front mounting hole on the cover, and adding a new hole towards the back.

The most time consuming part of this mod was waiting for the longer T-bolts I had to order from Amazon 😉.

Here's the finished product:

Do you think the limitation on the front rack is a function of your roll-up Tonneau Cover? I have a Tri-Fold Cover which shouldn't have the same issue.

Yes and no regarding being due it being a roll up cover. In this case the full length of the T-rails is not accessible due the canister cover being full width. Other roll ups I've seen have the cover between - rather than over - the rails.

Regardless of tonneau just have a close look at the rails (assuming of course the cover has rails).

I have the same SyneticUSA/Truck2Go tonneau. Definitely annoying that the coil cover obstructs the T-track.

Previously had two Sport Tracs for 23 years and loved the tie-down cleats on the bed rails. So I was looking for something comparable and settled on folding boat cleats.

I wanted a pair near the cab, so I also drilled an extra hole in the tonneau coil cover.

FYI: to anyone that needs T-nuts for these T-slots, electrical unistrut/superstrut "cone nuts" (see photo) fit perfectly. Discard the blue part. They also fit in the inside bed rails that come on the Lariat (but keep the blue plastic part there).

Hey Graboid,
Nicely done getting that upright close to the cab. That Elevate rack looks to be at it's lowest setting and still 3-4 inches above the cab. Would take some cutting to get it lower. What do you haul? Kayak or paddle board would be well off the roof which is what I'm searching for. regards Jeff

I have a long history of hauling an impressive variety of things in modest pickups. With the Maverick I have the shortest box I have ever had which is why I added the rack. Kayak hauling is just one of my use cases which I know will work out well. Time will tell how happy I am with the Maverick for hauling, but based on what I've seen and read on this Forum I'm pretty confident it will satisfy my needs.

In any case, the Tremor is a blast and I'm loving driving it 👍.
