Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT Retractable Bed Cover Review

Here are some photos of the Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT Retractable Truck Bed Cover. This is a hard rolling cover with aluminum slats but a vinyl cover over the aluminum.

Pros:
Smallest canister of any roll up covers I looked at.
The tension on it pulls itself open while at the end of the bed.
There are two mid-stopping points to keep it open at different spots.
The rolling covers allow for the use of cross bars, and this one specifically has what they call" MaxTrak System" which allowed me to bolt the cross bar brackets directly to it.
The vinyl over the aluminum gives a cleaner look with the security of a locking cover.

Cons:
The strap to close it gets in the way when lots of cargo is in the bed. This hasn't been too frustrating for me yet, but I know when I am rushed and irritated this will become more of an issue. I still prefer this over opening it from the side.

That's a phenomenal looking build, well done!

I can't believe how compact the canister is on that cover - for some reason, I thought it was bigger and avoided it. If I had realized the XT was that small, I would seriously have considered it instead of the Bak Revolver X4s I ended up with.

Gorgeous man! That pretty much confirms my suspicion that the M-XT is the way I'm going to go.

The Billie Bars and molle panel are gorgeous. Congrats on a great platform to build off! ~~With a heavy duty base like that, surely you have some big plans?~~

Great looking and great functioning cover. But is $1520.00 on Amazon. Anybody know of a way to get this thing any cheaper?

Is that a spray in or drop in bed liner? Any noticeable difference between them? Love your truck enjoy!

This is a spray in bed liner. I haven't seen a drop in specific to the maverick, but they usually aren't as nice. The spray in bed liner will look more professional. The plastic drop-ins always have fitments variations causing rattling and poor access to the factory hooks and mounts. The spray in also has a better texture.
Of all upgrades you might be considering, this one is worth the small price difference for this truck.

How smooth does the cover retract ? I just had my Ford dealer install the exact same cover before I picked up my Maverick. It has to be pushed in manually and is very hard to pull it back to close it. I questioned them on this and was told “you want it stiff initially. That way it won’t vibrate on the highway”. Half way home, I took it through a car wash to see how much water came in. Quite a bit came in at the front nearest the cab, a very small amount came in at the tailgate. I looked at it more carefully after my 2 day drive home. After loosening the mounting bolts, it moves a bit better, but still needs a push to open and a good pull to close.

How much space does it take up when it's all rolled up?

No way. Mine is like butter. As soon as I unlatch it, it is ready to pull itself open. It's almost too fast and I have to keep it from slamming up in the cannister. To open it, I can easily do it with one hand. Towards the end, it definitely still takes two hands to get it all the way latched. I can't comment on the water yet, but I didn't getting it expecting to be completely water sealed.

The last picture shows it all rolled up inside the bed up by the cab. It rolls into that cannister that is always there whether it is rolled up or extended over the bed.
