I don't think anyone was arguing any of your points. Like I and others said previously, this dealership is full of it about the Doc fee and they aren't correctly honoring X Plan. But they have dug their heels in now so only you can decide what you want to do. So are you passing on this truck and ordering another one from a different dealership? To hit a few of the replies without going through and quoting everyone:
1. The dealer agreed to accept X-Plan...not just that they would match X-Plan pricing. The terms of X-Plan set the document price to no more than $150.
2. Yes, me being a stickler about the $650 difference is arbitrary and more about the point of it all rather than the price difference. I'm paying cash so the monthly payment is moot.
3. My dad ordered his truck after I did and is in a different city, hence the difference in dealers.
4. I've already looked at inventory from other dealers to buy something off the lot. No one has a hybrid XLT available with the options I want....that's non-negotiable. I've also found a number of dealers have add-on options they require for in-stock vehicles (e.g. Ford Protect) that are non-negotiable and not something I'm interested in.
5. To the comment about buying through them using X-Plan...I'd like to see the invoice. If they're making the sales manager pay the doc fee, I can't fathom they're giving anyone a break.
6. X-Plan can be combined with other rebates, so I was still looking to get the $500 veteran rebate in addition to the X-Plan discount.
7. Could I have done things differently to try to hold them accountable, sure, but that's not the point of this post. As someone else has already pointed out, the point here is to forewarn folks about expectations when going through this dealer. I made the assumption in the beginning that their acceptance of X-Plan meant they were actually going to accept X-Plan. Rookie mistake I guess.
8. I have the signed DORA that shows the vehicle price. It has no line items for the dealer fees, taxes, tags, etc. What I now know is that a DORA for X-Plan vs regular order is different.
The only other thing I thought of is that if you order now it might not get completed as 2024 model and if it gets rolled over to a 2025 model will Ford have raised the MSRP again? They have raised the MSRP every year so far so that's something else to consider. I truly don't know what I would do if I was in your shoes because I'd have a difficult time doing business with that dealership but at the same time I would want the truck that I ordered. And I wouldn't want to risk actually possibly paying more if the new order gets rolled over to a 2025 model year. Tough call for sure.
