Hey Everyone,

So I installed the wireless keypad for keyless entry on My Maverick. I used FDRS to install it and it worked great.. For awhile.. What I have figured out is that ANY DTCS will make the Wireless Keypad stop working. I disconnected the battery and then cleared all DTC codes from all modules and BOOM it works again!!

For anyone who has had their keyless entry keypad stop working on their Maverick, definitely disconnect the battery and clear the DTCs. It worked for me!

That is scary, so if a DTC pops and you go to use the keyless pad, it will not work ?

Yes at least the wireless keypad. The wired one may work differently! DTCs could not affect the wired one at all but they definitely affect the wireless add on keypad.
I also think it is pretty stupid that something as small as a simple DTC that doesn't even trigger the check engine light, can stop my keypad from working.

Bump... This should be a sticky! Some folks depend on that keypad to actually work.

Yeah it's a bit unbelievable actually and it has happened twice to me so far where DTCs cause the wireless keypad to just not work..

I wonder if it's just an issue with their new setups and not the ones that used to come on the truck?

Aren't the deep sleep "notifications" that disable remote start from the app considered DTC's too? So Hybrid owners that have that issue often will be totally screwed out of the keypad?

I have no idea if the wired keypad is the same. I would ASSUME that the wired keypad that came on some MAVs will work even if DTCs are present but I have not tested it.. and cannot test it. lol. Maybe someone can chime in that has the OEM wired Keypad on their MAV.

Im not sure if those are considered DTCs but I would assume yes they are because there are many many DTCs that will not illuminate the check engine light or any warning light at all!

I do, but I rarely use it. I also don't have the app connected. Sorry... I'm sure someone will chime in eventually.

My concern is more for the Hybrid owners with the wireless version. Especially since now it's something they have to add, meaning they obviously have the intention of using it. Does no good if a DTC disables it. I can understand (begrudgingly) the dome lights and interior features during the deep sleep, but not the keypads.

Either way, thanks for bringing this up. There are some posts about the wired keypads having stopped working before, but none that tied anything into DTC's.
