I can't find the post now via serach, but someone on here showed their wireless CarPlay adapter that they had tucked in the empty space available above the USB port area when you (gently) pull the trim plastic down. They'd found a flat USB-C cable to run from the USB-C port to the wireless adapter so you can barely see it. I am trying to do the same, and have now tried two different wireless adapters and three flat cables with each, and I can ONLY get the wireless adapters to work with the cables included with them (and weirdly, ONLY in one direction: swapping the included cables around stops them from working). Are the included cables doing some magic that a standard USB-C cables isn't that I'm not aware of?

Make sure your USB cable is data capable, not all are. In order to use Car Play or Android Auto you need a data capable USB cable and be plugged into one of the two front USB ports.

I’ve been way down this rabbit hole. It’s a mess. Turns out though many wireless adapters offer a USB-C type port or cable, most are NOT actually USB-C. They are legacy (USB-B) ports disguised as USB-C, and most rely on their cables to do the handshaking with actual USB-C ports (like on the Mav). So they will ONLY work with their specific cables. So it’s kind of hit or miss.

I’ve been through over a half dozen adapters. What I finally settled on was this flat USB-C cable, this C-to-C female adapter, and this wireless adapter. It works, and connects quickly (one or two I tried connected but took forever).

I tucked the adapter above the little USB cubby, plugged the adapter’s USB-C plug into the C-to-C female adapter, then the flat right angle cable into the other side of the C-to-C and the USB-C port. You can barely tell it’s there and it works well. I’ll get a pic tomorrow.

FYI: I tried the U2-AIr, it DID work with the adapters I posted above (using the cable included with the U2-Air as well), but seemed to be VERY slow to connect. I returned it.

This is exactly what I’m trying to achieve. I’ve bought many of those cables and tried plugging them right into my CarPlay box I’ve never thought to run it through an adapter first which I am going to try. I’m surprised they haven’t suspended my Amazon account with how many returns I’ve done over the past month šŸ˜‚
