Winter plug in cable routing

I have read quite a few posts on how to route the plug in cable for us cold weather drivers. This is what I did, I used three of the four original cable clips just in different locations, the last one being secured a on the hood stop post(see photo). After removing about four inches of the plastic cable wrap I found the plug in cord to be flat, I simply routed that between the headlight and the grill. This is almost identical to my Escape, it may not be the prettiest but it works and easy.

What I did was to take an old computer power cord which was somewhat thin and cut and shortened it and put a new end on it. Think enough to run out under the hood fully closed to plug into a cord.

I would go as low as possible
I have no idea how to do that, the radiators are as big as the grill opening, and the whole front end is closed in very securely. I get your point, and believe me I looked for a way to do that. The plug in part is stored under the hood, and I will only use it like this when it is below -15C, so maybe for 30-40 days total, my escape is the same, its definitely a design flaw.

I used a different route. From where it is attached under the hood. I got a 6 foot extension cord and routed it up to the windshield cowel. When I need it i can grab it without opening the hood. There is about 2 feet of slack i built into it. I also used an aftermarket plug cover. If you want pictures let me know.
