I have GEICO. actually had two windshields replaced by Safelight because of similar stuff within a month of each other. The Subaru was a standard windshield, replaced for free, The Maverick was the acoustic windshield, 50 dollar copay. Both vehicles covered for 110 bucks a month.Safelite quotes $990 for self-payment, but I'm not a fan of their service. The last time I had a chip repaired, their technician did a subpar job, so I swore never to use them again. Luckily, I opted for windshield insurance from the dealer (not Ford), covering cracks and replacement up to 5 years with unlimited mileage. I paid $495 for this coverage, and considering the cost, I'm pleased with the decision.
Having a dash cam could have allowed you to file a claim against the company. If you don't already have one, consider spending $50 to get a dash cam.
