Will Making Changes to an Order Place you "at the back of the line"?

I asked my dealer about dropping the Fx4 pacakge on my Lariat EB order and adding the Black Appearance Package and he said the following:

"It is possible to make a change but I want to let you know that changes may cause your delivery date to be pushed back. You kind of lose your spot in line and jump to the back if you modify the order once submitted."

I know there is a chance changes could delay things, but he acted as if it were a certainty - ie "lose your spot in line and jump to the back". I'm wondering if this is accurate? I have seen a lot of people make changes on their orders here. Does anyone have any insight on this? I don't want to delay my order further, but I also don't know if this is accurate in that I will be placed to the back on the line.

Thanks in advance!

I contacted my dealer about adding the BAP and was told the same thing. It would send me to the back of the line. I declined to add the package.

I placed an order for a Hybrid Maverick on 17 September 2022. After seeing a video from Testdriventv.com in February, I decided to make changes to my original order in the hopes that I might actually get mine built. My original order was-
Hybrid
Oxford White
XLT
Power Moon Roof
Trailer Hitch Receiver
Mud Flaps
My priority code was 16.

After seeing the video, I went to my Ford dealer on 18 February 2023, removed the hitch and mud flaps, and then added the spray in bed liner and cargo management system. My dealer changed my priority code to 10. Called my salesman two weeks later and was told my priority code was now 7. Then 16 March 2023 I get an email from Ford saying my truck is scheduled to be built the week of May 8.

So in my opinion, changing your order COULD help. But only if you drop constrained items AND add surplus items.

Not sure if its entirely truthful. I added SIBL and the Cargo Management back when Ford announced the surplus availability and discount. Mine was still scheduled and built (in transit now) before some others. Personally, I leave the FX4. I think it will have better re-sale appeal in the long run.
