Why is this slot here?

I have had my new 2024 XLT in Terrain color for a week now. When I asked the salesperson what the slot below the driving mode buttons were she didn't know.
does anyone know? FYI I also bought the organizer insert on Amazon for the console storage bin and would recommend it.

When I got mine, the card with the code for the door buttons was in it. I had other cars with those card slots, also with little coin sorters. Silly, but occasionally useful.

The slot is only on the hybrid. My 2022 EB didn't have it. Also, there is a clip on the driver's sun visor on both my 22 EB and 24 hybrid for similar items so the slot on the console seems redundant. Memo to FoMoCo: Instead of deleting useful items like the keypad or digital temp readout on the HVAC controls, delete the slot and give me the keypad etc. back.
