After an order has been placed and is officially in the Ford system what, if any thing, can be changed? Can the color or the build be changed? How about optional packages (added or removed)?

If changes are allowed, does it have any impact other than the final price?

I think the only things that cannot be changed are the drivetrain (hybrid vs. eco) and the trim level (XL, XLT, Lariat). That said, the more you add the longer you'll wait.

Not necessarily, Ford can build a loaded Lariat just as fast as stripped down econobox XT. Although the more things you add the more likely one of your add-ons will be a constraint item.

I wouldn't order anything that you could source from the dealer or after-market — no floormats, no mudflaps, no spray-in bed liner etc. etc.

I think the point is many add-on items are inherently constraint items. Ford intentionally removed constraint items from trim levels and bundles in MY23 for that very reason.

Is it true that you can’t change an XLT to an XL once your order has been accepted by Ford?
