Can someone tell me what this is. I just received this letter from Ford. I don't quite understand it It is ambiguous and steps around an issue.
It says," Our records indicate that you own or have previously owned a vehicle that was or is registered in a state where emissions warranty applies. The Transmission Control Assembly is unlikely to require repairs during the warrenty period and your vehicle might not be one of the affected vehicles.
What the heck, do they know or not. Wow, can't believe I got an admission like this. This does not give me any confidence in them at all. Is this a recall. Why don't they know for sure what is going on and to what vehicle.

What is a Transmission control assembly.

I also received that notice from Ford. It referenced the fact that the transmission control module is covered for 7 yr / 70,000 miles under emissions warranty which is longer than standard emissions warranty, because of the laws in the specific state you reside in.
Apparently that does not apply to every state. I mostly ignored the letter since I have 100k Ford extended warranty

It means you may or may not have an extended warranty beyond your standard warranty on that part. May or may not be good news - but it isn’t bad news?

It said Transmission Control assembly not module. I went to the dealer after posting this, and talked to a service writer and he didn't know squat about it and had no intelligent or reasonable comment or knowledge. He read the notice and couldn't figure it out. LMAO!

I received the same letter from Ford, and was also confused by the meaning. The one I got reads, "Our records indicate that you own or previously owned a vehicle that was or is registered in a state in which the California emissions warranty applies, which provides a 7-year/70,000-mile warranty (whichever occurs first) for the Transmission Control Assembly."
Strange they mention the California emissions warranty. I purchased the truck new in Colorado. Hmmm. 🤔

16 other States have adopted California's emission standards and Colorado is one of them. It seems you just received an extended warranty for a part that may or may not fail.

Why or how is the “Transmission Control Assembly” part of the emissions system?

I don’t get the extended CARB warranty since I don’t live in a CARB State. Do the CARB and non-CARB States use the same “TCA”?
