What are Plastic Plugs in Side of Bed for?

My Mav has 2 types of round plugs in the bed - the soft rubber ones & hard plastic ones, see photo.

I am planning to use one to route wire for bed lights. The rubber plug comes off easily, but are not placed where I want to route the wires.

The hard plastic ones are closer, but they seem to be hard to remove without breaking.

Anybody know what the plastic plugs are for? How to remove them? Thanks.

The Flathead Slide Gently slide a thin flathead screwdriver under the edge of the cap. Twist slightly to pop it up.

The Trim Tool A plastic interior trim removal tool is the safest way to avoid scratching the paint or bed liner.

Pliers (Grip & Pull) If you don't care about reusing the plug, you can grab the head with pliers and pull straight out.
