When I bought my wife's escalade . I received a check for $580. they charged me the wrong sales tax. Sales tax in California is based on registration address not sales location.

Reminds me of a time when a trucking company, that I had not worked for in years, called me out of the blue. We all got paid by the load and we didn't get "paid" for fueling or washing out the trailers. I came from dry van 48 states that paid by the mile and we didn't get paid for any of that either. I always just accepted that if a load paid $200, that pay included washing out the trailer before loading and fueling up the truck before I left. They called me into the office years after I quit to cut me a $4400 check to reimburse for "fueling and trailer washout time" if I signed a paper saying I would not join a lawsuit that I didn't know existed. Where do I sign? lol

If I remember right it was a half point sales tax.

Did you get your maverick before emplyee pricing started? I ordered mine 12-23-24 and delivered 4-23-25. Took over $2000 off MSRP and at the time of order would not negotiate on hybrids due to scarce supply so was nice bonus.

Am a happy new owner.

Robert nice you got the check from an honest dealer that has a focus on customer satisfaction.
I had the opposite situation. Let me begin with, I flip my Maverick every 6 months because of the km's I drive for work. I was trading in my second and negiotiating on my trade in price and the difference I would pay out of pocket. A bit if back and forth and they hit the number I was happy with.
We signed the paperwork and arranged delivery a few days later. I called the day before delivery to confirm the exact amount of the bank draft. Picked up my 3rd xl hybrid and a week later I got the call.
The salesman and used car sales manager both made a mistake on the paperwork and I owed them another $1000.00.
I told them they should hace never called me and to bury their mistake in the used Maverick.
This is especially true since i plan on flipping every 6 months to a new XL hybrid awd for the next 5 years....at least 10 new sales. More than some of the fleet deals they make.
Needless to say, I found a new dealer who would love the opportunity to sell 10 new and have another 11 top quality used to sell.
Robert your dealer is a keeper.

I got an email at work yesterday. They indicated that they had accidentally overcharged me and to stop at the dealership for a check.

I got there expecting some crazy upsell. Instead, they handed me a check for $1K, just a bit of small talk and I was on my way. It just seemed a bit odd and created a bit of cognitive dissonance regarding my opinions of car dealerships.

Just unexpected.

I didn't get an email, just a $471 check in the mail from my dealer a month or so ago. No explanation. I took it to the bank as quickly as I could! (My 2024 was purchased last May.)
