Being a veteran myself and coming from a family who have served, this day is a mixture of somberness and pride. I don't particularly like the gratitude's sent my way, but I'm humbly proud of serving this great nation. A fact to consider and remember, since the civil war to date only 6% of the population has served in the armed forces.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to those that have served. Also a huge thank you to the family members of those who have served, for they have truly made the sacrifices that many do not realize.

Thank you, Veterans and Family members of veterans.

First of all, we owe you and all veterans, with their families a debt that can never be repaid. I am not among the 6% who served but we must express to our gratitude; we have the freedom to worship, work and play as we do because of you. I am in awe of those who gave their lives for our freedom, from the heroes of Lexington and Concord to to Afghanistan and every conflict in between. Many of you came back home with wounds and scars, both physical and emotional, that we will never begin to understand. For those who have never seen combat, thank you for standing in the gap, ready at a moments notice to defy the tyrants who hate us and the freedom we stand for.

May God richly bless you all and God bless the USA!

Non Maverick related. I realize most individuals are not interested or give a crap about someone 's personal photos. Being that most of my family members are gone I feel that I should share some photos with other families of veterans on this day that sacrifice their time or gave their life for this country. They might appreciate it .My dad to the right with flight crew back from the Pacific. Any body anyone out there recognize anybody in the photos? I realize that this day is really for Vets that are currently still with us.

Even though you may not like when we thank you for your service, thank you. It's good for us who didn't get to serve (I did 4 years of ROTC at Clemson, and got a medical DQ right before being commissioned) to thank those who did. It is truly the least we can do.

I come from a military family, so I saw how much my mom sacrificed with my dad being in the Air Force.

So thank you to all servicemen and women and their families. I/we are truly thankful for what you've done & sacrificed. May God bless you & keep you and make His face to shine upon you.
