Had to give a shout out to Jackie. Plus share a personal story not known by many.
My father played basketball with the Illinois State U team just after WWII. He went on to play semi-pro for several years. Not many know, but when Jackie was at UCLA, he was on the basketball team. They had been selected to play in an east coast tournament, and stopped by ISU for a warm-up game, as this was days of busing teams, so it was a multiple day trip for them. My Dad played guard for ISU while Jackie was a guard for UCLA. ISU won the game, and after it was over Jackie came up to my Dad and said "Best defense ever!" OF course he didn't know at the time who Jackie would become.
