When I plug a device, in this case a SanDisk MP3 player loaded with music, into the USB port in my 2022 XL hybrid, once I begin driving, I'm unable to navigate the device. If I want to change artists or albums, I have to stop, put the vehicle in park, then make my changes before beginning to drive again. This is supposedly a safety feature. I can't see why it is any different than changing radio stations which I can do. If I have a passenger, they can't do it either.

Does anyone know if this is a setting that can be changed? Perhaps a FORScan change?

I've seen this mentioned before, terrible design. I don't recall seeing a way to get around it. Maybe somebody else knows.

I'm not certain about Ford, but in other cars it seems to me there's a way at startup to tell the vehicle you're the passenger, not the driver, when trying to operate "locked out for safety" features, and it can be tripped by just claiming you're the passenger. Again, not sure if that's a feature in Ford or not, haven't deep dived into the manual enough to know.
