We took a trip with the nieces and nephew up to Poli Poli on Maui. We just did a basic picnic cruise up to the high ridge and back down. Its a fun way to go up the mountain. After 5000ft its all offroad, but you can only drive to about 8500ft. Still alot of fun, some good switchbacks and some good rutted shortcuts down in the meadow at the bottom of the asphalt switchbacks. Really beautiful, today we had the clouds roll in and mist on us. Yes the ground is so porous(its all cinder) that it is usually dry so lots of dusty climbs up some of the stuff. Its like switchbacks up a coarse sand dune with a bit of gravel mixed in. We only got a little footage since we had the kids and I dont like to make Josi run up the trails too much with her lung damage at altitude. Well enjoy!
