I have a 2022 Mav 2.0 with AWD Eco Boost and trailer hitch with 4 prong wiring. When I hook up the trailer, I get a message on dash that a trailer is connected, ok that's good. Then I get a message my blind spot detection is off and displays a system issue on my Ford App. If I don't plug the trailer wiring in, the truck does not notice the trailer is connected or that the trailer is even behind the truck. Then I removed the trailer from the truck and attempted to just plug in a set of lights used for string lights at the bottom of the tail gate. But the truck still again displays a trailer is connected when it's not, but still shows on my dash display as a trailer connected. Does anyone know how to change the trailer hitch wiring from detecting and type of connection and still work.
Sorry if this appears to be clear as mud lol, its been a day :) Thanks.

It's working perfectly.

You are not supposed to use the trailer wire for accessories or lights. Only trailers.

Yes that is correctly working “smart hitch” by ford 😉 if you search on the forums here a few different people have had successful work-arounds

I plan to get a set of "aux lights" to put on the heavy duty bike rack I use for our e-bikes that weight almost 75 lbs each... I will plug the light set into the 4-pin trailer harness because the bikes pretty much block the existing tail lights. So when I'm hauling the bikes, I'll just live with the fact that it disables the sensors as though a trailer was actually there. That "monster" bike carrier renders the normal sensor range totally invalid anyway, so I don't think I'm losing much.

Your right, that's all we can do Jim.
