Paint it. What do you have to lose?

That was going to be my solution, but I was going to use bedliner spray paint. Instead I bought the Ford/Lund/Husky during the Ford Accessory sale and used my soon-to-expire Ford points. It took longer to clean off the old adhesive than installing the new one. I did see someone else recently took theirs off and there was gunk underneath it. There was very little underneath my old TPE one and before I installed the new one I added some single-sided tape weatherstriping to the upper gaps between the double-sided tape, but left the lower gaps open for water to escape.

edit to add pictures link for the new Ford/Lund/Husky weatherstrip additon:

Hello,

If you encounter any fading problems with the tpe hood protector, please feel free to contact us at any time. You can send us the order number via PM, and our after-sales service will handle this issue. And our manufacturer informed us that the cause of the chemical reaction has been identified and is gradually being tested.

Similarly, spray painting is currently a temporary solution to this problem.
