Cliffs Notes: This is the 2nd Toyota Corolla GR that has had an engine failure recently, with warranty denied, because the owner drove 85mph.
The owner captured it all on dashcam which shows they did nothing unusual with only 23K miles on it, engine grenaded itself, with a hole in the engine, and pulled over.
This is going viral because it's completely nonsense on the reason for the warranty denial, because a Corolla GR is sold as a "track ready" vehicle with a track mode, 85mph is not excessive considering its sold with tires rated for close to 200mph.
With all the Toyota transmission and engine failures making the news lately (280K 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, and Lexus LX 600 for transmission issues and additional 102K for machining debris in engine), they are rapidly destroying their reputation for reliability and a good warranty.
