Would this be idiotic? How about if electric brakes were installed? (And, yes, I know that weight exceeds the stated limits.)

You won't be able to operate the brakes without a 7 pin connector and you don't have one (stock anyway).

Ultimately the question boils down to how much liability you want to take on in the worst case scenario. Only you can decide this and others should refrain from advising you on this.

Yes, I know I would need to add a 7-pin connector. I just wondered because I saw a note that the 2025 hybrid model could tow 4000#. Are there substantial modifications or was Ford just being ultra-conservative on what the truck could handle? A 2400# base weight camper has substantially more amenities than an 1800# camper.

Yes you can and yes I have and yes the rating was very conservative.
I have pulled a high sided 3200 lb trailer all over the mountain west in a 2022 Hybrid.

Get a good trailer brake controller and stay on pavement or dry hard pack.

FWD is the weakest link in my well traveled opinion. (Over 6000 miles towing.). Remember when you put weight on the back bumper it takes some weight off the front axle.

2000 lbs is "as factory equipped".
Better equipped = better towing.

Also get a OBDII data scanner to watch all your temperatures.

The biggest difference between your 2024 hybrid and the 2025 hybrid with 4K tow is FWD vs. AWD, respectfully. Other factors are upgraded cooling and brake controller, as already mentioned.

Possibly gear ratio as well. The 2024 4k tow on the ecoboost came with a different gear ratio. I don't see this listed in the 2025. So either they don't upgrade or possibly the gear ratio is already different on the standard 2025.

Not sure but cv joints could also be different from FWD to AWD. Saw an article showing the difference between FWD hybrid vs AWD in the 2024. Again not sure but on the www it appears so.

For 25 the hybrid 4k tow package comes with awd, updated stronger hf55 transmission, transmission cooler, brake control and 7 pin connector.
