I just got done helping my grandmother move. I hauled a 6x12 Uhaul trailer 350 miles each way (empty to get to her, full on the way back) the empty weight of the trailer was 1920lbs, we loaded it up with two solid wood desks, kitchen stuff, pots pans, and all that fun heavy stuff. So I know I was over the limit. but I am in Florida, and the terrain is pretty flat, so I didn't have to worry about going up steep hills or mountains. I also kept my speed at about 65mph.
The Hybrid towed it fine. Gas mileage sucked, even on the empty trailer, ( about 18mpg) but besides that, the truck handled the weight with no issues.
granted if they had the 4k tow package and AWD on the hybrid years ago, I would have gotten it that way. I am unsure why Ford would leave that off since I know they had the tech to do so since the Escape had that hybrid option.
