I am "old school" and call them mud flaps; Proper term may be "splash guards". Whatever, they are flat, not concave. I have to drive one/half mile of gravel public road and my driveway is another 1/4 mile of gravel. These flaps/guards save lots and lots of rock chips on front doors and back panels. Even on paved roads they may keep the occasional piece of debris from chipping the paint. They are pretty well constructed; I guess they could collect slush dependent on temperature. You may kick them but I would not overdo it!!Those are the molded plastic ones? If so I have a question about them to satisfy a small concern I have. From what I can tell from pictures, I'm guessing the side that faces the wheel is concave. If so, how well does it hold onto sticky stuff? My concern is (living in the mid-Atlantic area) is how well slushy road spray would accumulate there. Even on flat wheel-wells I have to occasionally knock off a large slush ball, but I've only ever driven cars w/o mud flaps. Would these mud flaps collect even larger slush balls? If so, should I worry about ripping the mud flaps off when kicking off the slush balls?
