According to the driver's manuals I've seen from those days, the manufactures assumed the driver might be taking the head off, adjusting valves and clutch, synchronizing the carbs, relacing inner tubes, greasing the chassis and other roadside maintenance that would be unheard of today. Now you are lucky if they tell you where the fuse box is.

Yes, and while they are at it, lets make all the fuses different!! Micro, Micro-Mini, Two prong, three prong..........Jeesh!! What happened to the regular sized two prong for everything fuse?

With new vehicles there isn't much you're going to fix on the side of the road. Like someone else said, a breaker bar for overtight lug nuts. Maybe a wrench that fits the battery terminals in case one comes loose. In Mavericks, a jump pak. Too much stuff that goes wrong is electronic. Not much you can do.
That being said, always have a roll of gorilla tape, some zip ties, bungee cords, a pliers, vice grips.
Living in New England it's always important to have some survival stuff. Blanket, gloves etc.

I had a 61 Sprite. Was a senior in high school in West Texas in the oil patch and with that car, was the cat's meow. Paid $1800, $300 down and $80/month. I had so much fun with that car in high school and college.

The tool roll isn't just useful when the vehicle breaks down. I use my tools at the hunting camp, my dad's house, etc. Not every place has the tools that I need.
