Tips on painting Ranger tailgate handle

Got the Ranger tailgate handle that's primed from the factory. Do you disassemble it to paint?

I asked my shop to disassemble it (I think they would have anyway). If you don't take it apart, not sure how you would get paint on the sides of the handle and underneath, etc. They said it was a PITA to do.

I disassembled the handle on my Maverick when I painted it. It's really not that bad to do worst part is wiping all the grease off the spring, and then reapplying new grease once the paint has dried.

I think it turned out pretty good though...
