Price negotiated. Order is in. Compromises settled. Now, wait.

I extended my lease with a very nice lad at Toyota Credit Canada, who was happy to tack on three months at the existing rate. Apparently, I'm not alone, one poor sod ordered a Ford Bronco and after the maximum three-month extension bought out his lease at a good price.

So, Subaru goes back on November 1. Will the truck arrive before then?

Hopefully! I am speculating October based on the production schedule posted here and what has been going on with the Bronco sport. Also, there was a dealer on here saying their wait times were getting better when they were ordering new vehicles for their customers, so here’s to hope! Not sure about Canada though.

You don’t have late availability items do you? Haha…

A few weeks at $95 a week isn't gonna kill me. I can extend in four-week increments which took me from August 8 to November 1. Any delivery in the October 4 to November 1 timeframe will be fine.

I based it on this: Production starts August 16, a week after my original lease ends. Even though I'm early in the queue I suspect mine will be manufactured around six weeks in, around September 27 give or take two weeks. Add two weeks shipping and then delivery where the vehicle lands at the dealer. Add another week or so of faffing at the dealer. Outside window is November 1.

Not with the way taxes work here. 13% HST. It works only if the trade-in value is higher than the residual price.

Michael, you'll have already had your first oil change before my Bronco will be a sparkle in Fords eye. I ordered on 03/03/21, and don't expect to see my Bronco until late summer/early fall of '22. However, I know the wait is difficult, no matter how long that wait. Hope you get that new Maverick soon.

Because of our high consumption taxes, you're far better off leasing if you're going vehicle to vehicle every few years.

I change the oil each time I change the tires from summer to winter and back again, no matter the kilometers. I drive less than 16K kilometers a year, although my son has already asked me if I can help him move next spring.

First thing I'll do is swap the 225/65/17 Pirelli's for the Falken 235/65/17's, which are winter rated.

Up here I'll use Krown oil spray rustproofing because it works. My neighbor has a sprayed 1997 Honda CR-V that looks new.

Own a truck, someone will ask you to help them move. Been there, done that, got the tee shirt and a chicken dinner out of the deal.

I'm "inheriting" a cargo trailer from my father-in-law, who got rid of his tow vehicle and camper and is now driving a Mazda CX5, as soon as he finds the plate.

"You realize that the price of it is you helping me move stuff."

Haha! Our family saw it and said “the bed is too small!” We will see if that holds once they need something moved. 😒

You might do better buying your leased car at the residual price then selling it since used car prices are so high right now.

Subarus Might Become Hard To Come By (msn.com)
Worked at a Subaru store. It was common for the residual buyout to be lower than similar used Subarus on our lot. With crazy used car prices now, you could probably come out way ahead. Check your buyout against KBB current values. If you don’t want to sell it yourself, trade or sell it outright to your Ford dealer. I couldn’t trade my Subaru because delivery of the Maverick is too far out, so they bought the car from me. Two months ago KBB listed my car at $13,200... Ford dealer bought it for $17,500... they need used cars. I am fastidious with my cars, so it looked like a new car off the show floor ; if yours is in poor condition you won’t get as much.
