I've searched through the owners manual and this forum and just haven't found the answer to this - what is the indicator that is to the far left of the temp gauge? My common sense tells me that this should be when the oil / engine has reached operating temp but we're talking Ford, so that doesn't always apply.

Anyone?

My best guess, the one bar is the default temp upon start up. When fully warmed up, my hybrid shows 4 bars - the one pictured plus 3.

I has a '22 EB and I think it was the same - 1 bar was default and 4 bars total indicated full/normal operating temp.

It measures engine coolant temperature and if you have the bars on your instrument cluster, according to prior MTC posts, below is what they indicate:

1 bar illuminates at 100 F;
2 bars at 140 F;
3 bars at 160 F;
4 bars at 180.

I’ve never seen my Mav Lariat go above four bars.

I was actually referring to the single line where the arrow points, but the bar equivalent fits. The line should equal 100 degrees, which would just about be minimum operating temp.
Thanks!

When I start Mav, I have zero bars until the temp reaches 100 degrees, then the first bar appears. I think the delineation in the dashboard graphic you point to is essentially saying, your engine is cold until the first bar appears after which you’re in a normal operating temp.
