switching trim levels might help with odds of getting a maverick?

My dealer mentioned that changing from an XL hybrid to an XLT hybrid might slightly increase my odds. I know this has probably been answered somewhere on this forum but as of late I haven't been following every thread and the search tool yields a lot of likely dated answers. So please accept my apologies ahead of time.

Is this possible without losing my place in line? Is it even true?

I might do it but also the pressure is off for now as I recently purchased a new vehicle so if one of my older ones breaks down or something I'll be okay for a while. Still looking to pick up a mav though!
