Hey all. While driving home this evening from work, I noticed the SERVICE ENGINE SOON dialogue pop up and the wrench icon appear. I clicked it away hoping it was a random fluke but soon noticed it was anything but. Usually whenever I drive, I have the windows rolled down, no matter what temperature it is outside. I enjoy listening to the boost and the rapid boost dump into the intake whenever I let off the throttle. I noticed that as I pressed down the accelerator, there was no boost noise at all and it seemed like it was in limp mode almost.
I was able to limp it home at over 45 MPH but had a lot of difficulty getting up to that speed. It seemed the shifting was delayed for upshifts but had no problem in top gears holding at lower revs. About an hour after I got home, I received a notification on FordPass that I had an error stored in the PCM and I have those images posted here.
I bought the truck about 10 days ago and only have about 400 miles on it. I am taking it to the dealership in the morning, hoping it is just a random event. Had the truck in for the software update last week for the turn signal recall. This is the first vehicle I ever bought brand new and paid in full for with my savings, so I am hoping it isn't physical internal engine damage or anything. Has anyone else had this happen? I am no mechanic, I just know car parts as I have worked in auto parts retail for the last 10 or 15 years.
Quick information...
2024 Ford Maverick XLT AWD
2.0L EcoBoost I4
8 Speed Auto
Still breaking in the motor, mostly city driving at 45 MPH, and have been averaging 19.8 MPG so far
