First time poster here. I've been eagerly awaiting delivery of my Lariat, FX4, Tow, Lux, A51 Maverick, and all was going smoothly until last week. The truck is stuck in production according to ford, the dealer claims it had arrived at the location station but is no longer there, and don't have any answers beyond that. Details are as follows:

  • Ordered 8/11
  • In production 10/22
  • At that point, I stopped receiving update emails, and never got confirmation that the vehicle was built, but the expected delivery date was 11/27
  • On 11/18 the dealer told me that their system showed the truck had arrived at the nearest rail station, and I should expect delivery the following week.
  • This weekend the dealer claims that the tracking info changed, and the "Arrived Rail" update has disappeared. They noted that the rail car # had been missing from the tracking info, which means it may have been a computer error
  • Both the dealer's tracking info and online tracking show the truck "In production" and "returned from body company" with the last status update on 10/22. The estimated delivery date has been pushed back to 1/6
  • The dealer has no answers and said they need to speak to their Ford rep, but it may take a few days to find out anything.

I would understand if the production date got pushed back due to supply issues, but once they started production, it shouldn't stay there for over a month. I'm wondering if it was damaged in transport? What to make of the dealer's claim that it arrived at the rail station nearby and then disappeared? Thoughts?

Sounds like you might be in a stop ship situation like some others have posted about here. Search the forum for stop ship or stopship. Bottom line is at this point no one knows why.

Mine was in production for over a month with that same date of 10/22. It only shipped out last week. My dealer also had that same info for me: Car is listed as returned from body, but also shows to be in transit on a rail car..........2 weeks later, I got the built email and then an official 'shipped' status 2 days later. Hopefully yours will be coming along within the next week or two. Sucks seeing everyone being built in 1 or 2 days, and then yours just sits there for weeks and weeks and months.........

There are some shady dealerships but I think for the most part it's a lack of communication ford doesn't seem to tell the dealership what's going on, took mine several days and contacting a ford rep to find out they put mine on a parts hold...after it already shipped.

Maybe train derailed and your truck got scrapped?

Or else it was damaged in transit and went for repairs?
(surprisingly, this does happen. Honda was having to replace missing body panels, etc a lot when they opened their new plant in Mexico. Mexicans jump on the trains and steal parts or damage the exterior in the process, so Honda then would send new grilles, etc to dealers for repair before being available to sell.)

I asked the dealer about this, and they said that if that is the case, they are required by law to disclose any kind of damage. I was chatting with a lawyer/ car fanatic friend of mine today, and he mentioned that he thought the threshold was ~ $500 or so in damage, above which requires disclosure

I'm hoping that's not the case!
