Still waiting (semi-patiently) my Maverick needs a power steering module.....

My Maverick is still in body shop(after being hit while parked in front of my house on May 5), awaiting a final piece of the puzzle. After over $9K in repairs she is looking good -but while being aligned at dealer as the final step of reconstruction-there is no power steering. Techs have advised the Power Steering Module needs replaced-evidently damaged in the accident. The part is on back order and no date given for availability. Tech advised it may be a month until part is available!!!??And he's not making any promises when , as no definite date was given to his inquiries. Damn-the body parts arrived fairly quickly and paint and reconstruction went fairly on-time, but now I'm looking at another month of driving the Hyundai rental turd................Yuck! Anyone have a power steering module to sell-let me know please???A guy can dream...............

Can it still be driven, or is that different with these newfangled vehicles?

I'm half kidding, but I have lost power steering in older cars and it still operated manually, though it was really hard to steer. I mean like considerably harder than manual steering.

Could they put one in from a wrecked/totaled Maverick to use as an interim?

Yes-they drove it from body shop across the street to alignment area. Tech said he used "arm strong" steering to get there but he wouldn't recommend it ....

Insurance liability would keep them from using a part off of a wrecked vehicle.
