My Maverick is here after a *short* 342 day wait. I ordered my Cactus Gray Hybrid Lariat on the one and only Saturday that orders were open for MY 2023 and got the call from my dealer last Wednesday night that it came in just a few minutes before they closed for the day. I couldn't make it in the next day to pick it up but went in first thing last Friday morning to sign the papers and they had it ready for me by around 5PM the same day. Overall, my experience wasn't too bad:
I was kind of shocked by how quickly it came once it had shipped. Everything I heard was 4 to 6 weeks for shipping. I figured it would be closer to 6 weeks, since I'm in Massachusetts, which is just about as far away as you can get from the factory. In only 4 days it was pretty much halfway here, and after a few more short hops it was here in hardly more than 2 weeks after it left the factory. It was really fun being able to see it on the dealer's lot fresh from the factory, still with the plastic over the seats, window sticker, and only 14.1 miles on the odometer. I've never purchased a new vehicle before (and honestly never thought I would until I ordered the Maverick) but really ended up almost being a no-brainer since there's really nothing else out there that checks all the same boxes... yet. I also kind of get a kick out of the fact that I checked KBB for it and found that its value after I drove it off the lot was actually MORE than what I paid for it. I know that won't last for too long, but it's still pretty cool considering what I've heard all my life about new vehicles depreciating a certain % immediately when you drive them off the lot.
I've had my Maverick for a week now and so far it's been incredible to drive. I LOVE how smooth and quiet the hybrid is and I really can't even tell when it's switching the ICE on/off. The braking takes a little bit of getting used to, but I'm getting the feel for it. I also just find it hard to believe how good the fuel economy is. All my driving so far has been around town, which is looking like it'll easily beat 40 MPG for. I have the CoPilot and Assist packages and I'm really happy with how well it's able to track the lane markings. Compared with my wife's CR-V, the lane centering is noticeably better - it's able to follow the markings on just about all of the local roads where the CR-V pretty much just gives up.
Just a few things on my short TODO list:
- Install my WeatherTech Mudflaps
- Get the SIBL done (got a competitive price from my dealer for them to take it an affiliated dealership that does Rhino Linings)
- Install my Gator Hard Folding tonneau cover (thanks @Realtruck !)
