Steelie ideas.

I was thinking, if I decided to just keep the steelies, how to make them look good.

1) Not a fan of Police car black.
2) don't like universal hub caps that show the wheel underneath.

With those out of the way, I'm thinking outside the box. What about body color (in my case Atlas Blue), with Chrome stainless trim rings, and Chrome center caps? Cars 50 years ago often had body color wheels. Might be worth it in this case. Can anyone photoshop Atlas blue onto an Atlas blue XL with steelies?

Another option. Why doesn't the aftermarket make a Chrome/stainless cover skin that works with the holes of the steelies? I think they would sell Great. @MABETT ?

My initial plan was to use flat black paint to "modify" the slots in the steelies to make them look different, then change the sparkle silver color to a darker grey, and add a set of AT tires, because I think the stock tires look like they belong on a Camry. I was gonna use Hyperdip's Anthracite Grey and a simple flat black center cap.

I ended up with a set of FX4 wheels so I never got around to changing my steel wheels.

I posted a crude with 5 slots the same way last year. Each would black out 3 holes. And a turbine style too. I have those pics at work. I'll repost tomorrow. I like the turbine 15 spoke idea a bit better.

I remember those posts, now that you mention it. That's likely what planted the seed in my brain!

I fooled around with a lot of variations, and decided on the one above. The turbine idea was cool, but I'm not patient enough (or skilled enough) with roll of masking tape and a can of spray paint to pull it off.

I do think you're onto something with the chrome cover skin idea. Hopefully somebody does it and they're sold at a price that doesn't bump up against the cost of new wheels.

Most wheel skins are $100-150 a set.

Looks super awesome in black my son wants a 24 dark horse he works at the ford dealership and they are getting in some 24’s Gt’s in a couple of weeks

Dunno, I think the steelies look fine the way they are. They have that "real truck" look not "show truck" look. But then I grew up looking at 70s-80s trucks that mostly had white painted steelies.

I guess one less expensive alternative might be a set of hubcaps? Some Google work shows some decent looking ones out there. Or maybe a chrome ring and center cap? Someone had a build posted with that look here.

They were. The chrome wheels I posted show better what a chrome skin would look like.
