My first Maverick, a ‘22 XLT hybrid, I lost in an accident. I was fortunate to find an available ‘23 XLT (no options) just across the line into our neighboring state. It was not my choice of color, nor did it have the options I wanted. I always viewed it as temporary until I could get a ‘24 like I wanted. I ordered two exactly alike from two dealerships. Both were at MSRP with no dealer additional costs. That included no dealer admin charges or processing fees. The first is scheduled for production 5 Feb, the second at EOM. I won’t be getting either!

Monday, one of dealerships called me with the news that they have a Maverick turned down from a special order exactly like the two I ordered. Would I like it rather than waiting for my own order to come in? You can guess my response. There was little room for dickering, MSRP minus the military incentive. I was able to get an additional $500 beyond their initial trade in offer. Carvana quoted me $28,000. With the tax advantage of a trade in vs. selling to Carvana the difference is less than $20. I hate to see that used values appear to be on a downward slide, but I’m overall satisfied where I have ended up. I expect I’ll make the trade Saturday.

Now the challenge is recovering what accessories and mods I can to transfer to the new truck! There’s a lot.

Why did you order just 2 custom Mavericks that you never planned on accepting? Why not 4, 6 or 8 extra Maverick orders? After all, we should all be driving your build, no?
At the time I ordered, I fully intended to accept one of the two I ordered. Earliest delivery date and offered trade in value would determine which dealer I would choose. I doubled down when ordering two because of my experience and that of many others when ordering in ‘22 and’23 and being told wait until next year.

Loosing the first Mav and having to replace it sounds like quite an ordeal. Pretty traumatic actually. I'm counting 5 Mavericks total in there. Original, temp, double downs and bride-to-be. I think I would have ordered 3. XLT Lux Hybrid is the real deal and that blue is nice.
