I have been watching this community for quite some time now and I thought it's time to share my thoughts and learn some new insight.

I was just at a local dealership Bob Wondries in Alhambra CA and was about to put in my order til the guy said there is a 2k mark up and $500 down payment.

Now the down payment I thought was kinda steep since I heard $100 from others but doable. But the mark up on a base model is kinda hard to digest.

Now I'm not in to total shock as I know how are things with 1st gen, popular cars. I'm also aware of the micro chip shortage. What I wanna know how are others reserving theirs specially here in So Cal?

I'm also considering ordering from a Kansas dealership I saw on Youtube that told me no mark up. I just don't know what would be the process of buying out of state.

I've heard of the $500 down often so I think that's semi-standard.
The $2k mark up though, fuck that. Find someone else.

I just placed an order with Kearny Mesa Ford/Kia down here in San Diego. They did not ask for a down payment (they said it would be sold on the same day if I didn't want it) with no mark-up. Now they did say dealer installed security system was mandatory but I told them I am paying MSRP and not a dime more and threatened to leave if forced otherwise. So far so good, and I am generally happy with the communication so far.

A few of us have ordered from Villa Ford, $100 deposit, no markup, and a very pleasant experience. I received my confirmation from Ford on the same day that I ordered.

You absolutely will not be obligated to purchase a security system when you special order a Maverick from us. There are some vehicles where we are requiring that right now, like Ford MachE (non-special orders) and the Kia Telluride, so it sounds like our salesperson was a little confused on that. Our commitments on Maverick, Bronco, and Lightning are: MSRP deal, no markups or inflated fees, no obligation to purchase any dealer installed products. We have that in writing on our website homepage slide also. Just a straight forward deal with no BS. At some point we definitely will offer you that security system and other Ford extended warranties, but nothing will be compulsory.

Hello Everyone. I can wholeheartedly recommend @EricAtKearnyMesaFord !!!

I just picked up my 4 door Base Sasquatch Bronco today at KMF! I have never had such a smooth car buying experience. Eric is a true professional. If you decide to get your Maverick from Eric...you have made the right decision. My Bronco purchase was exactly what Eric promised.

I live in northern Los Angeles County (border with Ventura County) and probably passed a dozen ford dealerships to buy from Eric....150 miles each way!! The drive to KMF was completely worth it! Eric is a straight shooter and knows what he is doing!

I ordered a hybrid Maverick with Eric and I think my brother will be ordering with him soon! I am 100% confident the Maverick purchase will go just as well! Now I just have to wait until Big Blue makes my Maverick!

If you check out the Bronco6g forum...you will see that my great buying experience with Eric is the norm...He has lots of great reviews on that forum!

San Diego Kearny Mesa Ford here. I gave clear instructions to be contacted via e-mail only in order to retain a paper trail. Will be buying at MSRP. No down on order, and nobody has attempted to force me to purchase anything additional either. It has been radio silence since I signed the order form and got the confirmation from Ford. Just playing the waiting game now.

Edit: In fact, Eric above was the gentleman with whom I've e-mail corresponded with a few times. Bang up job, sir. I appreciate your efforts.

Platinum Ford in Terrell, Texas held a $500 deposit for my order but never deposited it. Thank God there aren't many such dealers like the one you are describing.
I believe it is Long McArthur in Salina, Kansas that has the You Tube program. They advertise free shipping if you finance it through them or some other qualifier.
No iron underwear needed to deal with them!

All of my communication was via email until Eric called to let me know my Bronco was delivered at the dealership. He is running his store's Bronco, Maverick and Electric F150 programs (three home run vehicles for Ford...I wish I bought more shares!!!). From what I can tell...he pretty high up on the dealership totem poll and I think he does a great job to address his clients' needs.

One funny side note. When he called to let me know the Bronco was delivered...Caller ID said KIA...I didn't check the voicemail for a couple hours. Turns out KMF also sells Kia. If someone from KIA calls....Answer that phone!
