Make sure the seat belts are flat and give it a good push at the end. It will latch. And yes as far as the seat bottom goes, it will latch in the UP position when you release the strap at the 90 degree position.

After a year and 3 months of waiting she has finally come home. On a side note, I didn't notice until I got home that the back seat does not lock into place. Am I missing something here?

Do you mean the rear seat back or the rear seat bench?

I don't have a Maverick, but the Ford Rangers have an issue where it is very difficult to get the rear seat back to lock in to position after folding it down. I think it has something to do with the rubber stops on the back of the seat stopping the latch from catching correctly.

One way to get it to lock back in is to line up the seat, then place your hand directly in front of where the latch is and push straight back. It can take a bit of force but it will lock back in. It's not really a fix but a lot of people don't want to have crappy dealer techs messing with their new trucks.

On your Maverick there could be some other issue with the alignment of the latch, which you should take in and have looked at under warranty.
