Dollar store trash can, FITS plug, and a couple machine screws works well

I would not recommend the FIT kit. Like the folks on here say, look for a cheapie trash bucket. A few months after I ordered my 2022, I received a nice letter from Ford, thanking me for my patience and giving me the FIT kit free gratis. (This was NOT from my dealer, so I wasn't sure it would even come to pass.) Anyway, when I got the kit, it really boiled down to the trash container. Period. It included THREE items that all fitted into the FIT receptacle, so they could only be used one at a time. The fourth item was a set of dividers for under the rear seat, which were nonsensical, looking at the size of the space under the seat. Back to the receptacle, besides the trash container, there was a ridiculous "cord organizer" and a classy receptacle plug with the Ford logo on it. Since I use the trash container, the other two items are worthless. So, as a free gift, the FIT kit is nice, but as a option, the money could be spent more advantageously (is that a word?).

Yes, it is.
And everything that you said is accurate.
I also got the FIT kit gratis. Kept the waste basket and gave the rest away to a stranger I encountered with an EB.

I just got a FITS kit with some crossbars I bought from a member, and not really sure the quality is any better than the 3d printed options out there folks are putting out
