Don't tell my wife about this because she will get Garmin on the phone to get hers to chime each time she passes a Walmart to remind her to stop there. LOL.

My Garmin does that too. When they widened the road in front of the elementary school near us, they didn't replace the sign with the flasher that signals school zone times...and I notice that the Garmin no longer chimes when I approach the school during that time period. Guessing that the GPS 'beacon' is no longer active (but I'm no Garmin guru)?I discovered today that my Maverick chimes twice whenever I enter a school traffic zone. I wasn’t expecting that.
Turns out it was my Garmin GPS unit that was the source of the chimes!

Well, since that mystery was solved, I had something similiar;
I was returning home in my Maverick yesterday from the airport in Minneapolis and was comparing Google Maps and Waze. I'd switch from one to the other enroute comparing each. I finally decided I preferred Google Maps, so left it on that and continued on my merry way.
As I got closer to home I got a voice alert for a vehicle on the side of the road ahead. I thought that was odd, as I'd never had an alert like that from Google Maps before. I had for speed traps, but not for broken down vehicles. A little while later I got another. I thought "Wow, google maps now has alerts just like Waze. Win-win!".
When I got home I tried searching Google Maps to read about that feature upgrade. I couldn't find where they offered that yet, though.
My best guess is I had Waze still running in the background and it was reporting alerts entered by users thru my Android Auto like if I was still using it, even though I was using Google Maps?
