San Diego Hybrid Issues?

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. My friend and I each ordered a hybrid lariat lux with Penske Ford back in July (after reserving in June) and have yet to be scheduled. I’ve read plenty about the various production constraints and allocation issues, but it seems like there are quite a few folks who ordered well after July that are getting their scheduling emails.

Is there some kind of an issue with Southern California or San Diego? Between the August orders getting scheduled, talk of 2022 Mavs getting pushed to 2023, and Rivian screwing all of their reservation holders I’m starting to get a bit nervous.

that’s good to know, but makes me wish I’d ordered with a different dealer. Are they just low volume or did they upset FMC? My experience with them hasn’t been all that great.

Their main focus is fleet sales, notice the entire north lot are commercial trucks. EC and KM have higher consumer sales, but with so many, the wait is just as long.
Yeah, their internet sales guy is a goof. If it's annoying email the GM, he'll get them to respond quicker.

I originally went to Kerney Mesa Ford in July to put mine in and I have still not heard from them. In October I decided to look around and placed an order at the Chula Vista Ford and the day after I did I got an email saying that they pulled my order for production. I ended up getting mine on Dec 10th. I guess I was really lucky that I got it so fast. Mind you that Chula Vista Ford just went through new ownership so they had no orders placed but 5 at that time. When it came time to pick it up I did show up 5 hours after it got there and was doing the paperwork for it as they were still checking it in. They were tried to add all the extra fees to it and I stood my ground I was not paying all the extra fees because that not what I ordered for it. So I got it for what I signed for and that 100.00 deposit helped and that my salesman was new too so the owner said he would do it.

I believe higher volume dealerships get their orders faster. I ordered from Galpin Ford in Van Nuys (Los Angeles) in June and got mine new years eve. A few ecoboosts were delivered even months sooner. It doesn't make sense though, it seems like San Diego would be the first major stop from a Hermosillo delivery.

I got my Hybrid Lariat from Kearney Mesa Ford back in January(July 2021 order).
No issues. I'm sure its not a Socal issue. imo...

Hybrid XLT ordered.

I ordered in June at La Mesa Penske Ford. Got mine in March after 8 months.
I do think allocation system is probably what slowing it down, not sure how many vehicles they sell there.

I ordered from Galpin in June, and got my Hybrid Truck in January. This is a Great truck. Has 360, tonneau cover and spray in bed liner from the factory.

I placed two different orders one at ford Chula Vista and the other one at Penske ford, back in November, I received a call( march 10) that my maverick had arrived at Chula Vista, when we started to go through the numbers they wanted a $10k markup and I mentioned that I ordered another maverick at Penske ford and It was arriving a week later so I ended up waiting a week and payed sticker price at Penske ford, all I can say is Chula Vista is marking up all the their cars and parts, I wouldn't recommend them to purchase a vehicle.

Last July I told one of my team members at work about the hybrid and I ordered mine first from Kearny Mesa Ford, and then after some weeks he ordered his from Penske Ford. He received his XLT at the end on March, but he doesn't have the LUX or 360. Mine is still at a code 2 and I have the LUX/360 so that's what's probably holding mine up. I hear from KM usually after I contact them. I just hope that they will stick to MSRP. Penske talked my worker into a $4,000 warranty though. At least I get to look at his beautiful CG XLT hybrid everyday.

Ordered from KM, early Oct. Ill get calls every few weeks from them with the 'No news yet' update. Hoping that changes soon.
