I am pretty handy and I easily installed the Retrax Pro on my F150.

The Retrax canister is quite large, so I decided to install the Roll N Lock on my Maverick.

Everything is installed correctly, the measurements are perfect, and the alignment is spot on.

For some reason I cannot close the Roll N Lock when my tailgate is up. And if I open my tailgate and close the Roll N Lock, I cannot close the tailgate afterwards.

It’s almost like the weight of the Roll N Lock slightly making the tonneau cover bow inwards and then the tailgate doesn’t have enough room to close properly.

Everything is tightened properly…any ideas how to fix this?

Do you think there might be too much tension in the retraction spring and it's causing deflection or bowing in the top? Maybe compare a straight edge to the top of the tailgate and the edge of the roll top?

It’s almost as if the weight of the cover when closed (near the tailgate) causes the rails to bow down slightly…causing issues closing the tailgate.

I have literally made adjustments for 3 hours and it’s always the same result. I think I got a dud and I’m honestly too frustrated to even try installing it again if I get a replacement.

I need to call the place I purchased this to see if I can swap it for a Retrax. I hate the bigger canister, but their rail system is better.

I just wanted to see if anyone had an idea of why this may be happening or if they ran into the same issue when installing theirs.

The width may be too narrow towards the tailgate. Can you adjust the side rails out a little more?

OP, did you ever get this resolved? What was the issue?
