I am purchasing a roll-n-lock A Series XT bed cover. (RNL-135A-XT)

If I have a local company do it they will charge $2100 plus $190 to install but will double the warranty from 3 to 6 years.

If I order it myself I can get it for $2000 and it will have 3 year warranty.

I can’t make up my mind. I am confident I can install it myself without issue. I just don’t know if it’s worth an extra nearly $300 for an addition 3 years on the warranty and a couple hours of my time.

My Truck arrives any day now so I need to make up my mind.

Thought?

I think that's a pretty steep extended warranty price, (15 percent). Imagine paying $4500 for an extra three years on your Maverick.

For me, I would appreciate the extended warranty. I have the factory folding hard cover and the rubber at the first fold is cracking on. As I already have 50k on the odometer the warranty is expired.

So for $290 less two hours of your time $$ you can get 3 additional years of warranty = YOUR CALL!

Pay the extra for the double warranty. I have one and had someone install it. It did not shut just right and took it back (no charge). They did not upcharge me for the actual cover itself. It is a $2,000 investment. Pays to have it done right and from my understanding, these roll n lock are a little more difficult to install. Great looking cover . I love mine

I have bought two roll-n-lock covers now one back in 2021 for my ford f-150 and one for my wifes 2022 mavrick. The truck accessory dealer I bought it from chrged me the regular price for them, installed them and gave me double the waaranty for letting him install. the price out the door would have been the same if I took it installed it but no double the warranty so I let him install. I have had one very small issue where a piece of the trim on the back came loose and they replaced it with no problem.

Three years and a day after install will determine that. Murphy says it will fall apart then if there is no warranty. Risk reward.

Well I decided to go with letting the "Professionals" install it. I just picked it up and so far i am not impressed with the install. I think i will love the cover If & when the install issues are resolved.

1) The cover will not open all the way. - The black metal canister guard was installed upside down causing the bottom of the cover to scrape on it and preventing it retracting all the way.

2) The Latch does not reset when the cover is opened - It never gets into the canister, so doesn't rotate the way it is supposed to reset it position. (see #1)

3) The cover will not latch with the tailgate closed - it was mounted too close to the tailgate so will not latch - it will latch with the tailgate open but then you have to pretty well slam the tailgate to get it to close.

4) They broke a part on the Cover - Likely because of either #1 or #3

They are ordering a replacement for the part they broke. I am taking it back in the morning to have them correct the upside down guard. They assure me once the new part comes in they will adjust it and then it will close correctly - We will see.

It does look good, though it's buckling just slightly because of #3

Sorry about the install. I think it is difficult for this kind of cover but I don’t think there is a better looking cover ( and functional) out there. Good luck with the fix
