I’ve seen a lot of people talk about different reverse light bulb options for the Maverick, especially comparing stock bulbs, Lasfit LEDs, and other upgrades. I’ve also seen some people mention issues with Lasfit in different threads. Because of that, I decided to intentionally run and compare all three setups so I could see the differences for myself.

I installed the @F150LEDs ARES reverse lights on my 2022 Maverick and compared them to the factory halogen bulbs and the Lasfit LEDs I had been running before.

The factory halogens are pretty weak. They technically work, but the light output is low and the yellow color doesn’t help much. At night the backup camera image is pretty dark and the light doesn’t reach very far behind the truck.

The Lasfit LEDs were a noticeable improvement over stock. They’re brighter and the white color helps a lot compared to the yellow halogens. They made backing up easier and for the price they’re a solid upgrade if you just want something better than factory.

Both the stock bulbs and the Lasfits install directly into the factory mounting point and plug straight into the truck’s wiring.

After installing the @F150LEDs ARES lights, the difference was pretty obvious. They’re quite a bit brighter than both the stock bulbs and the Lasfits, but what stood out more was the coverage. Instead of just lighting a small spot behind the truck, the light spreads out wider so you can see a lot more of the area behind the truck. The backup camera image is also noticeably clearer.

The install is still straightforward and took around 15–20 minutes, but the setup is a little different. The ARES lights use their own adapter, so the electrical connection sits outside the factory housing instead of plugging directly into the bulb socket like the other two.

From my experience:

Stock halogen – dim and yellow, plugs directly into factory mount
Lasfit LEDs – brighter white light, direct factory fit
F150LEDs ARES – brightest with much wider light spread, uses an external adapter connection

If you just want something better than the factory bulbs, the Lasfits work well. But if you want the most light and better overall visibility when backing up, the ARES lights are easily the best of the three I’ve tried.

Great review. I sure wish they made the LED brake light led for the Maverick that does not Hyperflash. I was think since the connection was different it would help?

Thank you very much! I plan on getting those as well since these blew me away. If I do end up getting them I will post a review talking about the differences between lasfit and f150 leds to see whose is brighter!

I have luckily had no issues with Hyper flashing with F150 leds so I don't expect these bulbs to cause me any issues. So I don't know what it could be but they are doing it right lol.

Joaquin,
Did you replace your Maverick's brake lights with LEDs?

Brake tail lights are the issue with hyper flashing. No long term led solution found that does not hyperflash for 22-24 mavericks. I have a 23 hybrid XLT. I am looking at replacing the tail lights entirely from form lighting

Yes. Worse things than hyper flashing but it just annoyed me. But I really liked the light from the LED

Tried and verified with torx 30 bit.
Why nobody ever posts that tidbit of info baffles me.
My 15 yr old installed it. "Son why is there only 3 screws installed?"
30 minutes later... "I found it. It was stuck on the end of the magnetic mat" (insert manly head slap face)
