Smashed my driver-side mirror in a parking garage and had to figure out how to source and install the replacement. Fix was quick and easy as long as you order the correct part. Here is the part I needed:

Door Mirror. Rear View Mirror. Mirror Head - Left, Outer.
Part #: NZ6Z17683H

The mirror cover was not damaged, so when the mirror assembly arrived, it was easy to snap on to the new part.

Here are the before and after photos.

How did you take off te inside trim piece? I did the same thing, except to the right side. I got an unpainted mirror cover and put it on for now. I will paint it after I get the new mirror.

Assuming you’re referring to the plastic cover inside the vehicle, but it comes off if you pull hard enough. It’s snapped into place no unscrewing or anything.

Hey!

Very timely thread. Sadly I backed out of my garage and nailed my mirror. Please see the photos as I only need the trim around the housing. It looks like a separate part but probably not. Can you confirm:

1. That I need the part you used; and,
2. Your thoughts on this Ford OEM parts site, which has it for about $100 less.

I appreciate your post and any guidance you have!

That stinks. I would like to paint my 2024 Lariat mirror black covers, how do you get the mirror cover off?

Its all one part, so you would need to replace the entire assembly. You can use the same cover. Looks like you have the right part. # NZ6Z17683H

If you use a tool to get underneath the plastic you can just pop them off. They are secured pretty tight, so it will take some force. It is secured to the assembly in like 5+ places but should pop off fairly easily.

Some photos that may help the next person.

1. Remove black cover
2. Unscrew 3 10mm nuts
3. Unhook electrical component clip
4. Pull mirror off
5. Reverse the process

The red dots show two of the nuts you need to remove. For whatever reason the third didn't show up but it is inside the door sill in the obvious spot.
