I have a scheduled appointment today for a oil change and for the recall for the side airbag. They told me the recall for the airbag will take three quarters of the day to do. I said what happens to the other quarter? He lol. He said the best thing to do is if I dropped it off early in the morning and leave the key in the drop box they will get to it first thing in the morning. So I ended up dropping it it off last nite and using the app I can see they moved it into the shop. Now just a waiting game.
Update.
Well I just got a text from the dealership and they said my truck is ready for pick up. They also said this in the text.
(Scott here your vehicle is finished and ready for you. We are not allowed to order parts for the recall at this time--Glen "Scott" Cutler Penske Ford La Mesa)
So I called back and he said that they don't have the part at this time and they are not allowed to do the fix unless the airbag light comes on or if the airbag deployed.. I said so if I get in a accident and the airbag doesn't go off and I get killed or injured really bad is the only time you can replace it. He said I know what you mean and at this time since Ford has not supplied us with any airbags we can't do it. I know it wasn't his fault and I told him that but this girl that scheduled me for this should have known of this instead of wasting my time. And he said they are Instructor 2 schedule it and then when the vehicle gets there they call you and tell you that yes or no they can do it. I told him it would have been a big waste of time but since I scheduled a oil change at least it wasn't a big waste.
I did ask him that is it just his location or is it all locations in California. He said from what his parts manager said that it's all forward facilities that are not replaced in air bags. I did at tell him that I know that's not true because of fact that I've seen other people in my group getting there side air bags replaced.
He said I don't know about that but that's just what my parts manager said to me. Ford does not know what they're doing in regards to this period they can't even get their act together and let everybody know if they have the parts or not to do the recall.
