Wow.

So far it seems the 25MY is NOT mainly software upgrades.

And this was the year of pulling samples off the line for extra quality checks.
I hope I'm exempt as my build date is 5/12/25 dealer told me they need to pull engine to replace,600$ to install at dealer, glad I ordered it as a option!

Mine is a 4/25 build and it does have the recall on it, hoping they don't have to yank the engine!

I highly doubt that they will need to pull the engine, at least with the Ecoboost, to replace it. If you follow the plug wire, the heating element is on the front right of the engine. Looks to be fairly easy to get to.

My Maverick with a 3/3/25 build does not have a recall on the engine block heater.

I do have the recall on the air bag.

Last I heard it seemed like there was a supply problem on the engine block heaters where they couldn't get them and it is holding up orders. I don't know if that has been resolved or what the availability will be to get it replaced. It may be a wait on that. I would contact the dealer to get the skinny on it.

Has anyone received an update or heard of an update from Ford on this recall? I just bought a '25 Maverick in September and it had the airbag clip and this block heater element recall on it, the dealer replaced the airbag clip issue and I had assumed did the block heater. Until I pop my hood and find no block heater chord/plug. Searched my VIN and now it says its under a Consumer Satisfaction Program? I called a dealer (not the same I bought at as I'm annoyed they didn't tell me about this) and they told me that Ford will send me a letter when they have this figured out basically. So we're just not going to have block heaters in a Canadian winter??

I took my 2025 in for Oil change and what I thought was a block heater replacement. Turned out my Dealer has been instructed by Ford to REMOVE the block heater until a fix is available. I have read today, nothing coming soon, maybe February 2026!! Not good living in Manitoba Canada for our cold Winters!!

The weather where I live is dripping to -31 degrees Celsius; I can’t be without a block heater. Will ford be liable for any long term wear or damage from cold starting my engine for a whole season?

Good day @Rileyotta

Due to the block heater issue, we can't use our block heaters. This is not the end of the world though they are nice to be able to use.

Your truck should be fine.

1 You are using 0W20 synthetic oil, right? It stays liquidy in the cold weather and pumps immediately upon start...unlike frozen, thick conventional dinosaur oil.

2 your cylinders are still wearing a thin film of oil from your last drive, to help protect your engine on start...barring you don't have fuel leaking down your cylinders-that is a different issue if true.

3 we don't have big 8 cylinder engines, so ours will crank over nicely as long as your battery is good....not barely okay!

You have an Ecoboost, so your 12 volt battery actually starts your truck...my 12v battery just makes some contacts close, so not the same load demand on start.

4 You may want to get your battery load tested!

Depending on the age of your battery it may be weakened and due for replacement before it fails...and cold temps kills weak batteries as we should all know.

A load test is not just checking the charge state, it checks that the battery is able to start your engine properly. Your local Ford dealer might be a good first contact, or your favourite garage.

5 if you don't want to check your battery but want some peace of mind, go to Canadian Tire and pick up a nice lithium battery boost pack, charge it up, read it's use/maintenance instructions and put it in your truck...just in case.

Everyone should have one (IMHO) and I use mine quite a bit while helping others when their batteries have suddenly failed (there are warning signs, ignore them at your own peril).

These are all good ideas on how to keep your truck roadworthy, though a bit more warm up time may be needed.

It is winter, it will be cold and I am glad we have much better starting and operating vehicles then we used to beat around with here in the Great White North!

I feel that there should be no unusual wear occurring due to the non-use of the block heater.

Other more knowledgeable persons may wish to add to this at greater length if they feel it is necessary.

I hope this has been a help to you as we wait for the yet unknown fix for our block heaters.

Have a nice day, and keep Mavericking!

Andy

I have a very short work commute. I’d feel better about a quicker engine warm up with the block heater. I always hear people talk about not getting the engine warmed up and having moisture cause problems over time. I paid for the option last year when I bought the Maverick. I’d like to have it work. Maybe we’ll see a fix this year. Do better Ford.

Agreed. I paid for it because I need it where I live. Please do better.

Yeah, coming into the coldest month of the year it would be very nice to have. I checked with my dealer a couple months ago, they dont have an ETA yet on the parts.
