Update #2: Called Ford late Friday afternoon, my service rep was out for the day. The rep that took my call said they "thought it was done but can't figure out where the key or paperwork were at". Apparently they have no hand-off process for in-progress work when someone is off for the day??? Finally picked up the truck at 6pm. Road trip saved. Infotainment system does seem faster and smoother.
Update: the recall was started on Tuesday (4/22/25). Today is Friday and still no word from the dealer, despite me leaving a message for the service rep last night. We have a road trip tomorrow and this issue is going to mean we have to take our other car, an EV, so it'll add an hour each way for charging.
My Ford dealer is pretty high volume and has seemed to be in the know to correctly perform my past recalls, until this week. I took my truck in yesterday for an oil change and the back up camera recall. I started to get suspicious when I never got a call that my truck was ready, since they originally seemed to think it would be done by lunch time. I called about 5pm and was told that the "backup camera recall software installed/updated successfully but the truck's ODB no longer has connectivity". They are "working on it" and are "trying to figure out what happened and how to fix it".
I don't know if they didn't tend the battery correctly during the software patch, my truck is a 22 and has more quirks, or if it's just plain bad luck. Has anyone had this error after their backup camera patch? If so, do you know what the dealer ended up having to do to fix it and how long it took? My biggest frustration is I had an appointment tonight to get the tires replaced at Costco, and now I have no idea when I'll even have my truck back.
