edit - it just dawned on me, in spite of a few of you mentioning you weren't sure exactly of the product I was referring to, I never included the link:

https://realtruck.com/p/ionic-3-black-nerf-bars/ias-216020/

sorry. i'm an idiot.

Hey -

Relative noob here, have not posted much but have been enjoying my 2024 Maverick Lariat 2.0 w/ Blackout package.

I've seen many posts regarding these nerf bars and how they (at least previously) did not fit the hybrid models. What I'd like to know is how well they fit my Maverick? I'm not terribly handy so am looking for easy bolt on gear like this. A few questions I have are:

- Is it as easy to install as Realtruck describes?
- How's the look? Would the 4 inch be a better look? I wil say I like the more pronounced curve at both ends on the 3 inch.
- Do these support a fair amount of weight? I'm about 210 and the only real world use I can imagine is when I'm washing and drying the truck.
- Will these nerfs help deflect road debris, etc?

Any info is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance. This is a really informative and well run site!

Thanks

In your opinion is there another vehicle where they would make sense?
One that doesn't sit 8.4 inches off the ground that you are going to rob even more ground clearance from.

Also one that the nerf bars would offer protection if doing off roading

To each their own though, some folks have put them on Mavericks and enjoyed them and thats really all that matters.

Different people like different add-ons to their vehicles for one and maybe it can be a positive for some people, as mentioned by the OP when washing their truck. When I washed and waxed my Mav, I used a small step ladder to get the roof and top of the windshield and I could use the running boards to do the same thing.
Plus, I have been thinking about getting a set to help my 71 year old wife get in and out of my Mav.

So there are definite reasons people might want to install them, whether for looks or for functionality.
If you don't like them, you can just ignore a post like this that is asking about functional aspects of the nerf bars, not whether someone likes them or not.
You have the same ability to ignore the replies that don't address OPs concern, as your comment didn't address any of the questions he asked either.

One of main reasons I like my maverick is easy access for me to enter and exit the door . perfect height for me . of course I am 6 ft tall with long legs . my wife at 5 ft 7 inches also find easy access and no need for nerd bars. Had them on previous F150 and wife used them but I didn't . Get them if you need them or like the look .

Well. Didn't think the debate would be this spirited. But still, my main concern is, who has experience with these and are they as easy to install as their website suggests?

That's right, I didn't agree with him on being a positive for washing his truck..... oh wait, I did.
And I didn't mention about being able to help someone get into the truck easier...... oh wait I did.
And I didn't mention that different people like different add-on on their Mav.... oh wait, I did.

I see my comments as adding constructive information to the post, rather than just saying " It is my opinion that nerf bars make no sense on a Maverick".
I can easily say that this feature\add-on or that feature\add-on makes no sense, but it obviously makes sense to the people that ordered those features or add-ons.

All I'm saying, is that If I don't have something positive to say about a question that is posted, I move on, rather than leaving a negative comment.
All I’m saying is your comment was no more helpful than mine. You didn’t address anything OP asked just dropped in to try and play sheriff.

Back to the subject>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I installed a set, they help my wife get in.
They are kind of tricky to install. The 's ' hook bolts are weird the way they work. I have a hybrid, and I like the way they look. They are very strong, I step on them to clean the top of the truck, they are very sturdy feeling. I'm at about 180, and there is no give to them when standing on them.
As far as road clearance, chances are I will not be off-roading any time soon, so they have worked good for me.

I like the look but I think they would interfere with the jack points when I use my “Daytona” floor jack. I jack my car up several times a year….

Technically yes, but I don't think that should be a primary benefit. You're better off buying some mud flaps and the various shields that Mabett sells. Personally I wouldn't be too concerned with rock chips and whatnot since the rockers have plastic cladding.

It is my opinion that nerf bars make no sense on a Maverick.
Same. But to each their own. Though I come from a world where we weld rock sliders to the frame to actually protect the rockers from hits. Can't do that on a unibody.

It's always fun to see someone I've blocked arguing with someone in a manner that totally legitimizes my blocking.

Not entirely sure which ones you’re interested in but I bought Black Horse from RealTruck.
Bought them for the dog… she uses them sometimes but there will come a time when she will for sure.
I also like the way they look - And no one has ever criticized them or said it looks dumb.
Sorry I can’t comment on the install since I had a guy do it - he did say it was time consuming
Ignore the nay sayers and do whatever pleases you! 🙂

My opinion is no to nerf bars on any vehicle. Rock sliders? Yes. Those improve off-road ability by protecting rocker panels, while maintaining as much ground clearance as possible. But nerf bars are weak in the protection department and horrible in the ground clearance department.

And if the vehicle is lifted enough that I need assistance to get in, I’d rather have a hand strap overhead, to lift myself up and in rather than a foot step that is going to kill ground clearance.
